whitewater play novice paddlers 1 day
Paddle the Don
Sunday, May 4, 2003
route:
length: 10.0km, 1 day
difficulty: novice

organizer: Don River Conservation Authority
participants: Karonne Lansel,

report:
This was my second time at the annual "Paddle the Don" fundraising and public awareness event. The floodgates are opened for a rollicking trip, with fast water and Class I & II rapids nearly all the way. My partner was Joe Amodeo, and as usual when I paddle with him, we we had a blast, laughing all the way down the river. At a series of Class III drops that everyone else portaged around, he decided to give it a try. Since I wasn't wearing a wetsuit or helmet I chickened out (and have been kicking myself ever since). But Joe decided to go it alone, and it was beautiful to watch. We had a great time and have made a date to do it again next year!
