Salmon River (upper section)
Sunday, April 20, 2008 route:
length: 8.0km, 1 day
difficulty: intermediate
participants: Bonnie Bliss, Caroline Owen, Chris Mack, Keith Nunn, Peter Farr, Stephen Farr,
report:
A fun run. High water kept everything lively. We found the Sportspal that Dan, Greg, Colin and company found a week or two before and sent it down the chute/canyon. It was the only boat in our group to run the top of that rapid as the reactionary wave/holes were ridiculously big and meant a guaranteed swamp and far-too-likely swim. We ran the bottom half just barely avoiding the sweepers on the way out. We didn't see anyone else on the river. Everyone was probably over on the Black or Moira. We never saw the Sportspal again on the way out. A great weekend of paddling and hanging out at Cline's place. |
