report:
This was the 46th annual race and it was quite a good one. The weather wasn't too bad (the sun even came out after the race), the water level was decent and the course was pretty good.

The course had a few more difficult moves than in recent years and was a good challenge for most paddlers.

There were many VVs racing, a few more taking pictures, providing moral support, and hanging out. VV Fred Oliff brought a downriver group through the middle of the course during the race. I don't know how well they did with the gates as they didn't have bibs to be scored with. Maybe Fred can fill us in.

Caroline was well setup at gate 1 so hopefully she'll have some great pics to show us.

Congratulations to all the VVs who raced. Especially those who were racing for the first time -- it's not an easy thing to do. It is a great paddling challenge whether you are racing for time or not.

And thanks to the judges who don't get to keep very warm as the watch our performances. We'll have to work on a coffee sponsorship deal for next year.

I'm posting the results of the various canoe races in the album for the race and I expect some commentary will accompany pictures as they get posted. Stay tuned in the gallery at http://vvcc.canoeontario.ca/gallery/creditrace2004
