Black River (Washago)

Another great trip on a good local river. The level was very high, with only one of the three big rocks at the put-in showing above the water. We had a bit of a late start, but Tim was there early acting as official greeter (just like Walmart) for the parties that proceeded us.
Several new channels were open, and much was nearly washed out, but it was still a good trip. There was a fantastic surf wave on a channel that is normally dry just before the bend coming up to Bell Ringer. Ususally we take the right channel here, with a high-water option of left past the park bench on shore, but this time the centre channel was open. We caught up to Mike, Dianne and a kayaker (who's name I didn't get) surfing on an amazing wave. The wave was smooth as glass and we took turns in it. With a little encouragement Stephen gave it a whirl as well.
I finally got up the nerve to run down Bell Ringer (okay - I admit it... it was almost washed out), while Stephen and Tim took the little sluce ride beside it. Pinky's was high and bouncy, and everything was very forgiving at this level.
